R+S GROUP AG DONATES €2,500 FOR MARTIAL ARTS YOUTH DEVELOPMENT

Published: 27.06.2019

Ralph Burkhardt, CEO of R+S Group AG, handed over a cheque for €2,500 to Sergej Braun from the Brauns Gym martial arts school in Fulda. The money will be used to support the ‘Back to School’ project, in which children and young people between the ages of 8 and 15 are taught values as well as martial arts during the last week of their holidays.

“Starting the new school year together, strong and self-confident” is the motto of the event. Trainer and social assistant Braun, five-time world kick-boxing champion and simultaneously European karate champion, explains the concept: “Many children and young people today lack self-confidence and stamina. Sport can help here, as can interaction. On three days during the last week of the holidays, from 10am until 2.30pm, we’ll be offering exercise training and games in addition to martial arts practice. At the end there will also be a barbecue with the parents.” 50 to 70 participants are planned, and five specialists will take care of the supervision.

Burkhardt is fully behind the sports youth development scheme: “If you want to achieve your goals, you have to do something about it, you have to get moving. Today we like to talk about digitisation and industry 4.0, but people are still the most important factor. The ability to learn and be inspired is easily conveyed in sport, and in martial arts equilibrium is the most important aspect of all. We want to give something back to children and young people in the region, because these values are also very important for the economy and society”.
