GIRLS’ DAY 2019 AT THE R+S GROUP: EXCITING INSIGHTS INTO THE WORLD OF TECHNOLOGY
Published: 29.03.2019
Working in the skilled manual trades is not just for men! This was demonstrated by twelve girls at the nationwide Future Day on Thursday at the Fulda branch of R+S Group AG. “We are more than just electricians. Our tasks are varied, demanding and sometimes highly complex – at the end of the day our employees see what they have achieved. This often fills our young colleagues, in particular, with pride,” says Edgar Mihm. Mihm, a commercial employee in the training department, organised Girls’ Day 2019 along with colleague Anna Weber.
First there was a brief introduction to the R+S world and a presentation of individual training-led careers, including electronics technician for energy and building technology, electronics technician for information and telecommunications technology and plant mechanic for sanitary, heating and air-conditioning technology. Then it was time to visit the training workshop, to do some practical work and get hands-on experience. The schoolgirls used simple components to create small, battery-operated lamps and bent hearts from copper tubes. “That was a real challenge that everyone mastered well,” said Mihm after the special four-hour event.
Girls’ Day once again impressively demonstrated how exciting and varied technical professions can be. For the R+S Group, the Future Day is an important tool for getting young people excited from an early age about skilled manual trades with good prospects for the future.
